Ashley is an second year LCAE Co-op Intern. She is majoring in communications and interns at the University Co-op, for the marketing department.

The University Co-operative Society is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation located just across campus on the drag.

Each year, the Co-op supports the Longhorn Center of Academic Equity's College-to-Career internship program by offering students two-year paid internships which help them get hands-on experience in their fields. Internships are offered in all departments including Textbooks, Finance, Buying, Operations, Marketing, IT, and more.

Applications for the program open at the beginning of each fall semester and interested candidates are welcome to attend info sessions during the fall semester and can apply before December.

What first interested you about the LCAE Co-op internship?

I found the internship on UT's Handshake page when I was searching for an on-campus internship opportunity! I attended one info session and I was initially attracted to the fact that I would be working on-campus with students like me in an environment that is flexible to my school schedule!

How has the LCAE Co-op internship contributed to your education?

It has really helped me figure out what I would like to do in my career down the line. I have learned skills in Adobe and CRM database management that are really helpful! Right now, I am helping the E-Commerce Manager with Google Ads and I am connecting things I have learned in class to the topics we are discussing in the Co-op internship. The staff is really nice and always willing to help! The other interns also like to help each other and are always down for a fun conversation.

What do you like about the LCAE Co-op

internship?

My favorite thing about the internship is the ability to work with so many people on different things. For example, my first semester I worked in graphic design, then I moved to a little bit of social media work with the Co-op Pinterest, where I was able to apply what I learned in graphic design. Now, I am working in CRM database management. I really like the flexibility of the internship and how it adapts so you can lean into your interests.

Would you recommend the LCAE Co-op internship to other UT students?

I did UTNY this last summer and even though it was mostly PR focused, I felt like I could really tie in what I learned in the Co-op internship to the real world. The LCAE Co-op Internship is the perfect steppingstone for the real work job market.
